AVBC Planning Application (AVA/2025/0587) Proposal: Residential development of up to 200 dwellings
Thank you to everyone who attended yesterday’s Kilburn Parish Council meeting — it was fantastic to see such a strong turnout. Parishioners had the opportunity to raise their concerns directly with Kilburn Parish Council and representatives from Amber Valley Borough Council.
Key Points & Suggestions from the Meeting
Current Objections:
As of yesterday, 202 objections have been submitted against the planning application.
How to Strengthen Objections:
Submit individually: Each person should file their own objection, even within the same household — this will increase the total number recorded.
Vary your reasons: Different objections carry more weight.
Note: Petitions count as one single submission, regardless of how many signatures they contain.
Raising Awareness:
Attendees are encouraged to inform neighbours and friends — especially those without internet access — so they can submit objections too.
Deadlines & Extensions:
The current deadline to comment is 19 September 2025.
Kilburn Parish Council has requested an extension and this has been granted. The extension date will be confirmed once we have a confirmed date for a consultation meeting.
Next Steps:
Public Consultation Meeting: A village-wide meeting is being arranged and will be advertised on:
Kilburn Parish Council website
Kilburn Community Association Facebook page
Parish Council noticeboards
Parish Council Objection: The council will submit its own formal objection, but this counts as only one objection — members are encouraged to submit their own individual objections as well.
Newsletter Article: The next Kilburn Community Newsletter (Oct–Dec edition) will include further information.
We understand this application is causing concern for many parishioners and we are committed to supporting the community throughout this process.
