As you may be aware, the Government is proposing a significant restructure of local councils across Derbyshire. Under the proposal, the ten existing councils would be replaced by two new unitary councils, each responsible for delivering all services in their local area.

There are three options for how Amber Valley could be included:

  • joining the northern council

  • joining the southern council

  • different parishes joining each of the two councils, depending on where they may best fit

Before any final decisions are made, it’s vital that residents, businesses, and organisations across Amber Valley share their views.

The consultation is open until 10 August 2025 and takes around 10 minutes to complete.

You can also find background information about the proposals, FAQs, and a summary of the options for Amber Valley on our website: www.ambervalley.gov.uk/lgr
