The Kilburn Dog Waste Hunt

Updated: Jan 28

A frequent complaint that we receive on Kilburn Parish Council is about dogs waste, walking around the village ourselves we understand why – it is a frequently depressing sight on our pavements, grass verges and parks.

We are looking for your help to identify the dog waste “hot spots” so that we can work with Amber Valley environmental health department and the dog warden to tackle these problem areas using the information provided.

The data will help us to narrow down where and when the waste is appearing so that we can request the dog warden patrols at the right time, we can increase signage and do letter drops, support the local residents to gather evidence of the culprits which will enable prosecution.

If you find dogs waste which has not been picked up please report using this link or email Kilburnparishcouncil@gmail.com including the time and date you first saw the mess and the location (street name, & nearest house number or What3words grid reference)

If you witness someone leaving dog mess

Amber Valley will issue fixed penalty notices on a witness statement. A witness could be a neighbour or a complete stranger. If you wish to make a complaint regarding dog fouling please contact the helpline on 01773 841335 or submit the form on the website Amber Valley Website. They aim to respond to your complaint within 5 working days. Any information you supply will remain confidential. Photos are extremely helpful but please do not put yourself at risk by getting into any confrontation.

If you are caught dog fouling there is a fixed penalty notice of £50 or a fine of up to £1000 if you are convicted in court.

In recent years a Kilburn resident was fined for dog fouling.
